Why does the maintenance light appear?

The maintenance light comes on to let you know that your vehicle requires routine inspection or maintenance. It's a reminder to check important systems like oil level, brakes, filters, or other scheduled service tasks to keep your Volkswagen running smoothly and safely. Ignoring this warning can lead to more serious issues or costly repairs down the line.

  • A gas cap that is not properly closed
  • An engine malfunction
  • An oil or lubricant issue
  • A problem or fault in the engine

Once the cause has been identified and fixed, sometimes the warning light remains on. There are several methods to make it go away depending on the age and model of your Volkswagen vehicle.
